A Kiwi in Cali
Nestled in Mill Valley, this now-modern Craftsman is 2,100 square feet of personality.
The homeowners imagined a space infused with warmth and creativity, reflective of their home country of New Zealand—a canvas for their diverse and growing art collection—not to mention their still-young kids.
Neutral-ish elements create a textured backdrop (hello, seagrass walls), and bold-patterned wallpaper surprises you in the best way possible.
The custom banquet sets the stage for close-knit meals, while Austyn Taylor’s monster feet sculptures seem to crawl out from the John Pule painting above.
Thoughtful details transform shared spaces into personal sanctuaries. The spare bedroom became a den-library with a pull-out bed, blending function with style, while the study’s built-in sofa creates a cozy spot to unwind.
What started as “pulling together a few rooms with furniture and styling only” evolved into a full-house makeover—plus an all-new ADU, pool, outdoor kitchen, and an entire art collection curated by the Kress Jack team.
“We wanted our home to truly represent us—artistic, warm, a little edgy, and connected with nature. Kress understood us from the start. Her creativity brought our vision to life, and we absolutely love the finished product.” —Emma
